Duration

4th January- 31st March 2021

The Challenges

The aim of this study is to establish the medical equipment purchase behaviour within the private hospitals in Kenya. The study particularly focuses on the constraints surrounding medical equipment purchases, brand loyalty, the readiness for higher quality equipment and price sensitivity. In addition, the study identifies private hospitals interested in building partnerships in medical equipment purchases.

Expected Outcome

Stage one (4th January to 26th February 2021): Administering 109 structured questionnaires filled by private hospital heads within Garissa Kajiado, Kakamega, Kiambu, Kisii, Kisumu, Makueni, Meru, Mombasa, and Nairobi counties. Stage two (1st Match to 31st March): developing a Kenya private hospital profile, e.g. common specialized medical services offered, medical equipment gap and supply chain constraints.

Benefit

By identifying private hospitals in Kenya interested in having support for building partnerships in medical equipment purchase, the study will provide credible information, combining calculations of economic benefits, for discussion with relevant medical equipment manufactures from Germany. We look ahead to partnering with these manufacturers and contributing to filling up the identified gap within and beyond the Kenya’s private hospitals.
